'Joe Mirza’s heady, flickering production as the Slow Revolt has been steadily gaining in his native London. The producer’s latest track “Farther” pushes the boundaries of a relationship, asking for more with slowly building desperation. The track’s pleading reaches a pinnacle of synths, beats and bass as Mirza’s velvet voice begs the question “Could you feel farther?” with increasing insistence. Most love songs offer some sense of resolution, but it’s the edge-of-the-precipice feeling of “Farther” that makes it interesting — a rhetorical question that never gets answered with either assent or denial. It’s a bubble of pent-up emotion that keeps threatening to burst, but never does.'

'UK electro-soul producer The Slow Revolt has delivered his latest single today, titled ‘Farther’ it is another fine display of his songwriting abilities.

Jittering electronic beats worm their way through layers of main-man Joe Mirza‘s skilled production and his soulfully stimulating vocals. The Slow Revolt has been on our radar for a while now and it has been really great watching him grow and impress with each release.'

"Upon first approach, the band name "The Slow Revolt" sounds like something you'd find in the CD rack at Hot Topic—but, hey, April Fool's! No emo to be found here, just some seriously gossamer techno that percolates like a hot pot of coffee. The tick-tock pretty tune sees release on April 27 ..; it'll be accompanied by a similarly nice-sounding tune, "Farther." "The track is a one of two halves; anchored throughout by a circular bassline, it first plumbs fairly murky, monochrome & paranoid terrain, but switches, into a surfeit of chiming, incandescent synths that almost spill over with feeling," the Slow Revolt told FADER in an email. "I remember working several full nights to finish it, the crescendo on loop, deafeningly loud, trying to rinse everything I could from it. That tension, of a build that holds you right at it's cusp, refusing to quite deliver is something I explore in many of my tracks, and this is no exception."
